Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia
Our Alzheimer’s assistance in Peterborough, ON is dedicated to preserving the happiness and independence of seniors living in their own homes for as long as safely possible.
How We Can Help
Our Dementia Care Peterborough and Alzheimer’s Care providers are trained in dementia and Alzheimer’s disease care and are also trained to implement our unique Interactive Caregiving™ system. With Interactive Caregiving, the memory care provider will get to know the senior on a personal level, learning about likes, dislikes, and even past events in the senior’s life. While developing a relationship with the senior, the elder care provider can plan activities that could help the senior simulate mental or physical activities that have been shown to create more lucid thought. The senior and care provider can listen to music together from the senior’s favorite era, read an old favorite book, or even do memory exercises like looking through family photos or discussing current events.
Experience Counts
Our group of amazing caregivers is backed by a talented leader. Alyssa Rowe, Client Care Coordinator, has completed the Dementia Care Program through the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough. She received rigorous training in courses Dementia Care, Behavioural Supports, and the U-First! Education Program for Front-line Workers. When seeking out individuals to care for your loved ones, it’s important that your Care Coordinator has a combination of experience, empathy, training, and the pursuit of ongoing education. We’re proud to have people like Jessie on our team.
